barrierefrei vs inklusive

inclusive / including

'inklusive' and 'barrierefrei' both have to do with participation. 'barrierefrei' mainly describes places, means of transport, or information that can be used without obstacles, for example by people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments. 'inklusiv' is broader: it means that all people can take part and are deliberately included. A building can be 'barrierefrei', but a school, a course, or a festival is 'inklusiv' if everyone can truly participate. The words can be confused because accessibility is often part of inclusion.
