An era of human history that followed the Stone Age and is characterized by the widespread use of bronze for tools and weapons.

Stone Age
'die Steinzeit' (the Stone Age) and 'die Bronzezeit' (the Bronze Age) are both periods from early human history. They can be confused because both have to do with ancient tools and weapons. The most important difference is the time period and the material: in the Stone Age, tools were mainly made of stone. The Bronze Age came later, and bronze became important. 'Steinzeit' can also be used figuratively when something seems very outdated. 'Bronzezeit' is normally used only for the historical period.
