Ehepaar vs Paar
pair / couple
'das Paar' and 'das Ehepaar' can both mean two people in a relationship. 'das Paar' is more general: the people may be married, but they do not have to be. 'das Ehepaar' is more specific and means that the two people are married to each other. The words can be confused because a married couple is also a couple. But not every couple is a married couple. When the marriage is important, 'Ehepaar' is more precise.
Ehepaar
Neben uns wohnt ein älteres Ehepaar, das seit vierzig Jahren verheiratet ist.
An older married couple lives next to us; they have been married for forty years.
Paar

The young couple is looking for a bigger apartment in the city.
