'die Erdbeere' and 'die Beere' are easy to confuse because both can refer to small fruits. 'die Beere', however, is the more general term for many small, juicy fruits, such as raspberries or blueberries. 'die Erdbeere' is one specific fruit: red, sweet, and very well known in summer. So you can say that in everyday language a strawberry counts as a berry, but 'Beere' does not yet say which fruit is meant. If you mean exactly this red fruit, say 'Erdbeere'. If the type does not matter or several types are meant, 'Beere' fits.
