A business or institution where people receive theoretical and practical instruction in order to learn how to drive a motor vehicle and obtain a driver's license.

Ich habe mich bei einer Fahrschule angemeldet, um den Motorradführerschein zu machen.

Usage tips
Compound structure
The word is made up of the verb 'fahren' (to drive; stem 'Fahr-') and the noun 'Schule' (school). So it is literally a school where you learn to drive. The 's' in between is a linking element that connects the two parts.
EXAMPLE
Eine gute Fahrschule bereitet dich optimal auf die Prüfung vor.
A good driving school prepares you perfectly for the exam.
Typical verbs
Common verbs used with 'Fahrschule' (driving school) are 'sich anmelden' (to register), 'besuchen' (to attend), or 'wechseln' (to switch). There you take 'Theoriestunden' (theory lessons) and 'Fahrstunden' (driving lessons).
EXAMPLE
Nächste Woche fange ich an, die Fahrschule zu besuchen.
Next week I am going to start attending driving school.
Prepositions 'in' and 'bei'
You register 'bei' einer Fahrschule (with a driving school). When you go there, you say 'in die Fahrschule gehen' (to go to driving school; accusative). When you study there, you are 'in der Fahrschule' (at/in driving school; dative).
EXAMPLE
Ich habe mich heute bei einer neuen Fahrschule angemeldet.
