Correct preposition
For the month as a period of time, use 'im Februar' (in February). For an exact date, use 'am' before the day, e.g. 'am 10. Februar' (on February 10).
EXAMPLE
Im Februar ist es in Deutschland oft noch sehr kalt.
In February, it is often still very cold in Germany.
Time expression without a preposition
If you want to give an approximate time in the month, you can put 'Anfang' (beginning), 'Mitte' (middle), or 'Ende' (end) directly before 'Februar' (February). In this case, you do not need a preposition or an article.
EXAMPLE
Die Prüfung findet Mitte Februar statt.
The exam takes place in mid-February.
Regional variant
In Austria and parts of southern Germany, the shorter form 'der Feber' is often also used for February. This form is very common there in everyday language.

Im Feber fahren wir immer in den Skiurlaub.
