'die Fortsetzung' and 'die Fortführung' are very similar when something is about an action or project that has already begun continuing. 'Fortsetzung' is more general and can also be used for stories, films, or conversations. 'Fortführung' sounds somewhat more formal and fits especially well with projects, work, plans, or a state that is meant to continue existing. Learners may confuse the words because both express 'weitermachen' (to continue / carry on). In many factual contexts, both are possible, but for a second part of a film, 'Fortsetzung' sounds more natural.

The company will decide next week on the continuation of the project.
