'fristlos' is used almost only with contracts, especially terminations. It means that no notice period is observed and the effect begins immediately. So you do not simply say 'Ich komme fristlos' (I am coming without notice), but rather 'jemand wird fristlos gekündigt' (someone is dismissed without notice) or 'ein Vertrag wird fristlos beendet' (a contract is terminated without notice).
