Gate vs Ausgang

exit / outcome

'der Ausgang' and 'das Gate' can both have to do with a place at the airport that passengers pass through to continue on. 'der Ausgang' is general: it leads out of a building, room, or area. 'das Gate' is much more specific and refers at the airport to the gate where you board the plane. Learners may confuse the words because a gate can seem like a special kind of exit. But the natural distinction is: at the airport, for the flight to the plane you say 'Gate'; for the door to the outside, you say 'Ausgang'.
