'die Staffel' and 'das Geschwader' both refer to military units, especially in the air force. The difference lies in size and level: a Staffel is usually a smaller unit. A Geschwader consists of several units and is therefore larger. The words can be confused because both have to do with aircraft and military organization. If you mean a smaller group of aircraft, 'Staffel' is more fitting; for a larger unit, 'Geschwader' is more precise.
