'identisch' and 'identitär' look similar, but they do not mean the same thing. 'identisch' says that two things are completely the same. 'identitär' has to do with identity, meaning personal, cultural, or national belonging. It can also be meant politically and refer to the far-right 'Identitäre Bewegung' (Identitarian Movement). The risk of confusion mainly comes from the similar form of the words. If you simply mean 'exactly the same', 'identisch' is correct. 'identitär' is only used in texts about identity or specific political contexts.
