'die Impfung' and 'die Spritze' can both come up in a doctor's office, but they are not the same thing. An 'Impfung' is the medical procedure meant to protect against a disease. A 'Spritze' is either the instrument with the needle or, more generally, an injection or shot. Learners confuse the words because a vaccination is often given with a syringe. But not every 'Spritze' is an 'Impfung': you can also receive medication with a syringe.
