'der Gläubiger' and 'der Kreditnehmer' are on two different sides when it comes to money and debt. The 'Gläubiger' (creditor) has lent money and is allowed to demand it back. The 'Kreditnehmer' (borrower) has borrowed money and must repay it. The words can be confused because both appear in a loan agreement. Pay attention to the direction of the money: the creditor gives money or demands it back; the borrower receives money and pays it back later. The religious meaning of 'Gläubiger' is not meant here.
