'maritim' and 'mediterran' can both bring to mind vacation, the coast, and the sea. But the important difference is this: 'maritim' refers generally to the sea, seafaring, or things like ships, harbors, and the navy. 'mediterran' refers specifically to the region around the Mediterranean Sea, for example its climate, plants, culture, or cuisine. The words can be confused because the Mediterranean is also a sea. If it is about seafaring or a general sea atmosphere, 'maritim' fits better. If it is about Italy, Greece, olives, a warm climate, or Mediterranean cuisine, 'mediterran' is more precise.
