'-minütig' and 'minutenlang' both describe a duration in minutes, but they work differently. '-minütig' is almost always used with a number and forms an adjective, for example 'zehnminütig' (ten-minute) or 'fünfminütig' (five-minute). It says exactly how many minutes something lasts. 'minutenlang' does not give an exact number. It only means that something lasts for several minutes, often longer than expected or noticeably long. Learners may confuse the words because both have to do with minutes. The practical difference is: with an exact number, use '-minütig'; without an exact number, use 'minutenlang'.
