Nobelpreis vs Preis
price / prize
'der Preis' and 'der Nobelpreis' can both be an award for a special achievement. 'Preis' is general and can be used in many situations, for example in a small competition or for a major honor. 'Nobelpreis' is a specific, very well-known international prize for outstanding achievements, for example in medicine, literature, or peace. Learners may confuse the words because 'Preis' is part of the word 'Nobelpreis'. So the Nobel Prize is a prize, but a very specific one.
