The local or regional subdivision of a larger organization, such as a political party, club, or association. The local branch is responsible for the members and activities in a specific place or municipality.

The word is made up of 'der Ort' (place) and 'der Verband' (association). The 's' in between is a linking element. An Ortsverband is therefore literally the association for a specific place.
