Paradoxon vs Widerspruch
contradiction / objection
'der Widerspruch' and 'das Paradoxon' both have to do with something that does not fit together well or seems contradictory. 'Widerspruch' is the normal term when two statements, facts, or actions are not compatible with each other. 'Paradoxon' is used more when something first sounds illogical or impossible, but may have a special meaning when you think about it more carefully. That is why the words can be confused. In practice: a 'Widerspruch' is usually a problem in logic or in the information given; a 'Paradoxon' is often a surprising thought or a seemingly contradictory situation.
