Both words can refer to the systematic observation of user behavior. “Tracking” is also used in a neutral, technical sense and emphasizes recording data or activities, whereas “Überwachung” sounds more strongly associated with control or a potentially unwanted intrusion. “Tracking” is therefore often more suitable for the technical collection of data.
