Word structure
The adjective has a simple structure: it consists of the prefix 'un-', which expresses negation, and the word 'interessant' (interesting). 'Uninteressant' (uninteresting) is therefore the direct opposite of 'interessant' (interesting).

When 'uninteressant' has the meaning 'insignificant' or 'irrelevant', it is often used with the preposition 'für' + accusative. This construction expresses the context in which something plays no role.

The meaning 'boring' often describes a personal feeling, e.g. 'Ich finde das Thema uninteressant.' (I find the topic uninteresting). (This information is irrelevant for the case).

'wichtig' and 'uninteressant' can be opposites when 'uninteressant' means that something has no significance or relevance. 'wichtig' then means: it plays a role. 'uninteressant' means: it plays no role in this matter. But 'uninteressant' can also simply mean 'boring'. In that case, it is not exactly the opposite of 'wichtig'. So pay attention to whether it is about significance or about interest.
