vorbestellen vs reservieren

to reserve

Both reservieren and vorbestellen can secure something for a later date. For a product that is not yet available, however, vorbestellen refers to ordering or buying it in advance and ensures that you receive it when it is released. Reservieren, by contrast, initially only means putting something aside or holding it.

Visual example for reservieren

I am pre-ordering the book, which has not yet been released, so that I will receive it when it comes out.

reservieren
