A sound, a smell, or a change can therefore be 'wahrnehmbar', but not necessarily 'sichtbar'. Learners may confuse the words because both can mean 'recognizable'. In practical terms: for the eyes, 'sichtbar' is usually more precise. For all the senses or for a general impression, 'wahrnehmbar' fits better.
