'vergessen' and 'wiederentdecken' form a contrast here in how one deals with memories or things. With 'vergessen', something is no longer in memory or is no longer paid attention to. 'Wiederentdecken' means that you find something again later or remember it again. This can be a place, an object, an ability, or a feeling. So the difference is the direction: 'vergessen' removes something from conscious memory, while 'wiederentdecken' brings it back.
