A member of the seafaring peoples from Scandinavia who were active across large parts of Europe from the 8th to the 11th century as traders, settlers, and warriors.

The confusion often comes from images in films and stories. Remember: 'Pirat' mainly describes an action, while 'Wikinger' describes a historical group.
