A member of the seafaring peoples from Scandinavia who were active across large parts of Europe from the 8th to the 11th century as traders, settlers, and warriors.

The adjective 'wikingisch' (Viking/Norse) is derived from the noun 'der Wikinger' (the Viking). You can use it to describe things that have to do with the Vikings, for example 'wikingische Kunst' (Viking art) or 'ein wikingisches Dorf' (a Viking village).
