The presentation and linking of reasons and evidence in order to support a thesis or justify an opinion. It describes both the process of giving reasons and the chain of arguments presented itself.

'Argumentation' is often described with adjectives such as 'logisch' (logical), 'schlüssig' (coherent), 'überzeugend' (convincing), or 'schwach' (weak).
