Word structure
The word is derived from the separable verb 'auffinden' (to find something). The ending '-bar' means that something can be done. So 'auffindbar' (findable) literally means 'can be found.'

This adjective is very often used in negative sentences, usually in the predicative form. Typical combinations are 'nicht auffindbar' (not findable / not to be found), 'nirgends auffindbar' (nowhere to be found), or 'kaum auffindbar' (hardly findable).
