Expresses that something will happen, or is the case, under all circumstances, with certainty, or absolutely. It is the opposite of 'auf keinen Fall' (under no circumstances / definitely not).

This word can be written in two ways: as one word, 'aufjedenfall', or separately, 'auf jeden Fall'. The separate spelling is the traditional one and is still the more common variant in formal texts.

As an adverb, 'auf jeden Fall' (definitely / in any case) is flexible. It can stand at the beginning of the sentence (position 1), in which case the verb follows. But it can also stand inside the sentence, usually after the conjugated verb.
