'nennen' and 'aufzählen' both have to do with saying or writing down information. 'nennen' can also refer to just one single thing. 'aufzählen' fits better when several things are named one after another, often like in a list. If someone asks for an example, you 'nennt' an example. If someone asks for all the reasons, you 'zählt' the reasons 'auf'.
