'Auflisten' (to list) is a separable verb. The prefix 'auf-' comes at the end in a main clause. In subordinate clauses and in the infinitive with 'zu', the verb stays together.
Der Projektleiter listet alle Aufgaben auf.
The project manager lists all the tasks.
The verb is derived from the noun 'die Liste' (list). 'Auflisten' (to list) therefore literally means to put something on a list or to present it as in a list.
Bitte listen Sie Ihre bisherigen Berufserfahrungen auf.

Concrete or abstract items are often listed. Typical nouns are: 'die Kosten' (the costs), 'die Gründe' (the reasons), 'die Namen' (the names), 'die Vorteile' (the advantages), or 'die Ergebnisse' (the results).
In seinem Vortrag hat er alle Vorteile des neuen Systems aufgelistet.

'nennen' and 'auflisten' can both mean that you give information. 'nennen' is more general and also fits when you mention just a name, an example, or a few points. 'auflisten' means to give several points one after another in an ordered list, either in writing or orally. Learners may confuse the words because both occur when answering questions. If only one piece of information is important, 'nennen' sounds more natural. If many points should be given completely and clearly, 'auflisten' fits better.
