Ausschlafen means deliberately or undisturbedly sleeping as long as necessary to feel rested. Verschlafen happens unintentionally and causes someone to arrive late or miss something. Use ausschlafen when there are no obligations, and verschlafen when someone misses an appointment.
Am freien Samstag schlief Lea aus und stand erholt um zehn Uhr auf.
On her free Saturday, Lea slept in and got up feeling rested at ten.
Am Arbeitstag verschlief Lea und kam eine Stunde zu spät.
