Usage tips
Opposite and midpoint
'Basisch' (basic) is the opposite of 'sauer' (acidic). A solution with a pH value of 7 is 'neutral' (neutral). 'Alkalisch' (alkaline) is also used with the same meaning.
EXAMPLE
Zitronensaft ist sauer, Seifenlauge dagegen basisch.
Lemon juice is acidic, whereas soapy water is basic.
Reines Wasser ist weder sauer noch basisch, sondern neutral.
Pure water is neither acidic nor basic, but neutral.
