'der Trompeter' and 'der Bläser' can both refer to musicians who play a wind instrument. However, 'Trompeter' is specific: this person plays the trumpet. 'Bläser' is more general and can also be a person with a flute, clarinet, trombone, or another wind instrument. In addition, 'die Bläser' in an orchestra can also refer to the whole group of these musicians. The words can be confused because a trumpeter is also a wind player. But a wind player is not automatically a trumpeter.
