A 'Buchmesse' is a specific kind of large event focused on books, publishers, authors, and readers. You can also see exhibitions at a book fair, but not every exhibition is a book fair. The words can be confused when talking about showing new things. For books and the book market, 'Buchmesse' is more precise.
