selection / choice
'die Auswahl' and 'das Casting' both have to do with selecting someone from several people or possibilities. However, 'die Auswahl' is a general word. It can be about things, people, or the decision itself. 'das Casting' is much more specific: it is a selection process for roles, shows, models, or similar jobs, often involving an audition or performance. Learners may confuse the words because a selection also takes place during a casting. But not every selection is a casting. 'Casting' only fits when people are being tested for a specific role or task.
