Spelling
As part of a number, „hundert“ (hundred) is written in lowercase and joined together with the other parts of the number. As a noun for a quantity of one hundred items, it is capitalized: „das Hundert“ (the hundred), „ein volles Hundert“ (a full hundred). For an unspecified large quantity, both spellings are correct: „Hunderte“ or „hunderte“ (hundreds), „mehrere Hundert“ or „mehrere hundert“ (several hundred).

A full group
When „das Hundert“ (the hundred) refers to a group of exactly one hundred things or people, it is often accompanied by expressions such as „das erste Hundert“ (the first hundred) or „ein volles Hundert“ (a full hundred).
