Correct preposition
When something happens in this month, German uses the preposition 'in' with the dative. The correct form is almost always 'im Dezember' (in December).
EXAMPLE
Im Dezember fahren wir für eine Woche in die Berge.
In December, we are going to the mountains for a week.
Time expression without a preposition
To indicate an approximate time within the month, German often uses 'Anfang' (beginning), 'Mitte' (middle), or 'Ende' (end) without a preposition before it.
EXAMPLE
Das Projekt soll Ende Dezember abgeschlossen sein.
The project is supposed to be completed at the end of December.
Word family of the months
All twelve months are masculine in German. If you remember that it is 'der Monat' (the month), you also know the article for all other months such as Januar, Februar, and so on.
EXAMPLE
Der Dezember ist oft ein sehr kalter Monat.
December is often a very cold month.
