Word structure
The word is made up of the number 'drei' (three) and the ending '-fach' (-fold). This ending can be attached to many numbers to form multipliers, e.g. 'zweifach' (double/twofold), 'vierfach' (quadruple/fourfold), 'mehrfach' (multiple).
