Usage tips
Separable verb
'Durchsehen' (to look through / see through / understand) is separable: in a simple main clause, 'durch' goes at the end; in a subordinate clause, it stays attached to the verb. In the infinitive with 'zu', 'zu' goes between 'durch' and 'sehen'.

Use without an object

You can barely see through the closely spaced bars.
Colloquial pattern
This use is colloquial and often occurs with 'nicht mehr' (no longer), 'noch nicht' (not yet), or 'nicht ganz' (not quite). The thing causing difficulty is often introduced with 'bei' followed by the dative.
