After the IT systems went down, all invoices had to be processed by hand.
Common expressions referring to the field include 'in der EDV arbeiten' (to work in electronic data processing), 'im Bereich der EDV tätig sein' (to work in the field of electronic data processing), and 'EDV-Kenntnisse haben' (to have computer skills).

When 'EDV' (IT systems) refers to technical equipment, it often occurs with words such as 'Anlage' (installation), 'System' (system), 'Abteilung' (department), or 'Ausfall' (outage). These combinations relate to the day-to-day operations of a company or institution.
