When a young animal is suckling or drinking, 'am Euter' (at the udder) is often used. 'Am' stands for 'an dem'; 'das Euter' (the udder) is in the dative here.

Just a few hours after birth, the foal drinks at the mare's udder.
In animal husbandry, 'das Euter reinigen' (to clean the udder), 'das Euter untersuchen' (to examine the udder), and 'das Euter abtasten' (to palpate the udder) are typical collocations. Here, 'das Euter' (the udder) is the accusative object of the verb.
