'das Abenteuer' and 'der Flirt' can both have to do with romantic or sexual interest. 'Flirt' usually means a light, playful approach: people smile, talk nicely, or show interest, without it necessarily turning into a relationship. In this context, 'Abenteuer' more often means a short, noncommittal romantic relationship, often secret or not very serious. The words can be confusing because both can be noncommittal. But a flirt is often only a game or a beginning, while an 'Abenteuer' already refers to a brief relationship or affair.
