A playful, often noncommittal approach between two people that signals mutual interest. It is usually a brief, light form of romantic interaction.

Annäherung is the process or attempt to build a personal relationship and can initially come from one person. A Flirt, by contrast, is a playful, usually light romantic interaction in which both people show interest. Without recognizable mutual interest, Annäherung is therefore the better fit.
