Both words can refer to a way out of a dangerous place. An Ausweg is generally any possible way out, whereas a Fluchtweg is specifically intended and marked for escape or evacuation. Use „Fluchtweg“ when this purpose is defined; otherwise, „Ausweg“ may be sufficient.
