With information, 'gefiltert' can also mean that you do not get the whole truth or not everything directly. That is why 'ausgewählte Informationen' (selected information) fits well when someone puts together suitable information; 'gefilterte Informationen' (filtered information) fits more when information has been processed, shortened, or controlled beforehand.
