Often, the person or institution that has the leadership is added with the preposition 'von' (by). This is a typical passive construction.

In the meaning of 'geleitet' (guided/led), 'geführt' (guided) is very often used for tourist activities. Typical combinations are 'eine geführte Tour' (a guided tour), 'eine geführte Wanderung' (a guided hike), or 'ein geführter Stadtrundgang' (a guided city walk).

'geführt' and 'betrieben' can both mean that a person or organization is responsible for something. 'geführt' puts more emphasis on management, organization, or administration, for example with a business or household. 'betrieben' emphasizes more that something is actively maintained and kept running, for example a café, a website, or a facility. The words can be confused because both can fit with companies and institutions. As a practical rule: if you mean decisions and organization, you often say 'geführt'. If you mean that a business or service is running, you are more likely to say 'betrieben'.
