Gewähr vs Sicherheit
safety / certainty / security
'die Sicherheit' and 'die Gewähr' can both have to do with reliability and guarantee. 'die Sicherheit' is the normal word when you are certain that something is true or works. 'die Gewähr' is more formal and often appears in fixed expressions, for example 'Gewähr bieten' (to offer assurance) or 'Gewähr leisten' (to provide a guarantee). In that case, it is about something serving as a guarantee or someone taking on a guarantee. The words can be confused because both express trust. In everyday language, people usually say 'Sicherheit'; in legal, business, or fixed expressions, 'Gewähr' fits better.
Gewähr
Der Händler leistet Gewähr dafür, dass das Gerät richtig funktioniert.
The dealer provides a guarantee that the device works properly.
Sicherheit
Nach dem zweiten Test hatte die Ärztin mehr Sicherheit bei der Diagnose.
After the second test, the doctor had more certainty about the diagnosis.
