'Gezeichnet' is the past participle of the verb 'zeichnen' (to draw/sign/mark). All meanings derive from this verb: to leave a mark on someone (zeichnen), to sign something (zeichnen), or to create a picture (zeichnen).
Das Porträt war mit Kohle gezeichnet.
The portrait was drawn with charcoal.
You can recognize the meaning from the context: if it refers to a person, it is about traces of suffering. If it refers to a document, it is about signing. If it refers to a picture, it is about art.

In the meaning 'marked by suffering', the word is almost always used with the preposition 'von' (by/from). The cause of the suffering then follows in the dative.

At the end of formal letters or documents, the abbreviation 'gez.' (or 'gezeichnet' (signed)) is often used before the name of the signatory. This is a very common form.

'gedruckt' and 'gezeichnet' can both describe how an image or text ended up on paper. The difference lies in the method of production. Use 'gedruckt' when something was made with a printer or a printing process, for example a book, a poster, or a form. Use 'gezeichnet' when something was created by hand or with a drawing tool, for example with pencil, charcoal, or chalk. The words can be confused when talking about pictures on paper. If a machine or printing process is involved, 'gedruckt' fits. If someone drew the lines themselves, 'gezeichnet' fits.
