With „mit dem Heli“ (by helicopter), you specify the means of transport. This phrase is often used with „fliegen“ (to fly), „bringen“ (to take or bring), or „transportieren“ (to transport); after „mit“ (with/by), the dative is used.
Die verletzte Bergsteigerin wurde mit dem Heli ins Tal gebracht.
The injured mountaineer was taken to the valley by helicopter.
When getting in, use „in den Heli“ (into the helicopter) with the accusative. When someone is already sitting inside, use „im Heli“ (in the helicopter) with the dative.
Die Ärztin steigt in den Heli.
The doctor gets into the helicopter.
Die Ärztin sitzt schon im Heli und wartet auf den Start.
The doctor is already sitting in the helicopter and waiting for takeoff.
In the context of rescue operations, „einen Heli anfordern“ (to request a helicopter) and „einen Heli einsetzen“ (to deploy a helicopter) are typical collocations. „Anfordern“ (to request) is used when asking for assistance, while „einsetzen“ (to deploy) refers to actually using it for a task.
Wegen des schwer erreichbaren Unfallorts hat die Feuerwehr einen Heli angefordert.
Because the accident site was difficult to reach, the fire department requested a helicopter.
