hinfort vs hinaus

out / beyond

'hinaus' and 'hinfort' can both have to do with going away. 'hinaus' is a normal modern word and describes movement from inside to outside. 'hinfort', on the other hand, is outdated and sounds very literary or stern. As an exclamation, it means roughly that someone should go away. Learners may confuse the words because both can express a direction away from the speaker. In everyday German, people almost always say 'hinaus' or 'weg'. 'hinfort' only really fits in old texts, fairy tales, or very dramatic language.
