'der Kunde' and 'der Interessent' both belong in situations where someone might buy something or use a service. A Kunde, however, has already bought or ordered something, or is actually using the service. An Interessent only shows interest and may buy later. The words are easily confused because an Interessent can later become a Kunde. Before the purchase or before a decision, you are more likely to say 'Interessent'. After the purchase or during an ongoing order, you say 'Kunde'.
