'Kronleuchter' and 'Leuchter' both refer to objects used for light. 'Leuchter' is the more general word: it can hold candles or lamps and can stand on a table or hang from the ceiling. A 'Kronleuchter' is a particular kind of Leuchter: large, often beautifully decorated, and hanging from the ceiling, for example in a hall or theater. The words can be confused because every chandelier is also a Leuchter. But not every Leuchter is a chandelier.
